Indian market closes lower on Monday

Mumbai, Sep 25 (IBNS): Indian equity benchmarks declined on Monday, with BSE Sensex down 295.81 points at 31,626.63 and NSE Nifty down 91.80 points at 9,872.60.

A disappointing performance by HDFC Group, FMCG, infra and auto stocks were largely responsible for the decline, according to media reports.

Top gainers included Coal India, Tata Power, ICICI Bank, HUL, ZEE Entertainment, Reliance and TCS while Adani Posts, ACC, Aurobindo Pharma, Kotak Mahindra, Lupin, Ambuja Cements, Tata Steel, Idea Cellular and ITC declined.
