Indian market: Sensex opens in green, Nifty above 17,900

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE benchmark index, the Sensex and the NSE Nifty opened in green territory on Friday.

At the opening trades, Sensex gained 328.35 points or 0.55 per cent at 60,230.45. Nifty 50 too gained 111.85 points or 0.63 per cent at 17,985.45.

Tata Steel, Sun Pharma, Tech Mahindra, Bajaj Finance, Asian Paint, HDFC, Infosys were among the top gainers while Ultra Cement and Bajaj Auto were among the top losers.

The Sensex and the NSE Nifty were in red for the last three days.

On Thursday, Sensex closed at 59,919.69, down 433.13 points or 0.72 per cent, while Nifty 50 closed at 17,886.70, down 130.50 or 0.72 per cent.
