Indian Market: Sensex up 156.63 points

Mumbai: The BSE Sensex on Thursday added another 156.63 points to close strong at 58,222.10 as renewed buying was witnessed in Metal, Capital Goods, Realty and Industrials stocks.

The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too gained 57.50 points at 17,331.80.

The day opened on a strong note at 58,314.05, up 249 points. During the day, it was surged to 58,578.76, up 513 points before closing at 58,222.10, advancing 156.63 points from its previous close.

The Nifty recorded days high and low at 17,428.80 and 17,315 points respectively.

The stocks include Metal, Capital Goods, Realty and Industrials stocks kept the market strong.

In scrips, Tata Steel was a major gainer, up 2.22 per cent to Rs 103.40 followed by L and T by 2.10 per cent to Rs 1910.70, HCL Technology by 2.01 per cent to Rs 964.70, ICICI Bank by 1.08 per cent to Rs 884.80 and Infosys by 1.69 per cent to Rs 1454.

The losers were Bharti Airtel by 2.62 per cent to Rs 787.50, Hind Unilever by 2.11 per cent to Rs 2611, HDFC by 1.48 per cent to Rs 2315 and IndusInd Bank by 1.48 per cent to Rs 2315.

The Mid Cap rose by 1.13 per cent and Small Cap by 1.30 per cent.

In 30 scrips, 17 advanced, 12 declined while one remained unchanged.
