Indian rupee value at three-month low against dollar

| | Aug 01, 2014, at 04:31 pm
Mumbai, Aug 1 (IBNS): Indian rupee hit its three-month low of 60.83 against dollar on Friday, the lowest since April 22.

The sharp fall in the value of the rupee against the dollar happened owing to a slump in BSE and Nifty amid a global sell-off as foreign investors sold Indian shares worth Rs.1,654 crore on Thursday.

This was the biggest single-day selling since July 2 which really put pressure on Indian markets.

At 9:30 am today, the Sensex was down 210 points to 25,685 while Nifty was below 7,650 points.
