Indigenous Koo launched in the US, first market outside India

In its first market outside India, indigenous Koo, which is seen as an alternative to Twitter, has been launched in the United States.

Koo's launch in the US came as the site was aiming to expand beyond the Indian market.

Reportedly, Koo is aiming to build a tool to get its users verified for free.

Also the users can import their tweets and followers.

Aprameya Radhakrishna, co-founder and CEO of Koo, told Economic Times, "We want to take Koo to the US, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Malaysia, the Philippines, the Middle East and Africa.

"We see an opportunity in the non-English markets as well as the English markets as both are not happy with Twitter."

"We are the only like-to-like alternative with additional features which are free. We see ourselves as an opportunity to be leveraged globally," he added.

Koo's expansion came at a time Twitter faced mass resignations following its chief Elon Musk's ultimatum to his employees over "long working hours".
