Jet fuel prices rise 3.3%, fourth straight hike for commercial LPG in line with global trends

New Delhi: The price of jet fuel, or aviation turbine fuel (ATF), rose by 3.3% on Friday, while commercial LPG prices used in the hospitality sector increased by Rs 62 per 19-kg cylinder, reflecting adjustments to align with global oil price trends, media report said.

ATF prices saw an increase of Rs 2,941.5 per kilolitre, reaching Rs 90,538.72 per kl in Delhi, as reported by state-owned oil companies, reported  PTI.

This hike follows two consecutive cuts that had brought prices to their lowest levels of the year, the report said.

On October 1, ATF prices had been lowered by 6.3% (Rs 5,883 per kl) and, before that, by Rs 4,495.5 per kl, or 4.58%, on September 1.

In Mumbai, the ATF price was adjusted to Rs 84,642.91 per kl, up from the previous Rs 81,866.13, according to the report.

The cost of commercial LPG has been raised by Rs 62, setting the new rate at Rs 1,802 per 19-kg cylinder.

This marks the fourth consecutive monthly increase, following previous hikes of Rs 48.5 in October, Rs 6.5 in August, and Rs 39 in September.

These increases counter four previous reductions that had cumulatively lowered prices by Rs 148, whereas the current increases now total Rs 156 per cylinder.

Currently, a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder costs Rs 1,754.50 in Mumbai, Rs 1,911.50 in Kolkata, and Rs 1,964.50 in Chennai.

Meanwhile, the cost of domestic LPG cylinders remains unchanged at Rs 803 for a 14.2-kg cylinder.

Prices for ATF and LPG are reviewed monthly by Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL), based on international fuel prices and exchange rates.

Meanwhile, petrol and diesel prices remain steady, with rates having been reduced by Rs 2 per litre in March.

Petrol currently costs Rs 94.72 per litre in Delhi, while diesel is priced at Rs 87.62 per litre.
