New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) to promote startups focused on automobile manufacturing and mobility solutions, media reports said.

The partnership aims to bolster India’s startup ecosystem through innovation and technology-driven initiatives, according to a CNBC-TV18 report.

“Through this partnership with DPIIT, we will be able to further accelerate our efforts to support promising startups to create technology-led solutions in the automobile manufacturing and mobility space,” said Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer, Corporate Affairs at Maruti Suzuki India.

The MoU was signed in the presence of key officials including DPIIT Joint Secretary Sanjiv, Maruti Suzuki Independent Director Anjali Bansal, Director of Corporate Planning Sunil Kakkar, Bharti, and Executive Officer of Digital Enterprise Tapan Sahoo.

“This MoU is a step towards creating a robust platform for startups to transform ideas into market-ready mobility and manufacturing solutions, reinforcing India’s leadership in next-gen industrial innovation,” said Sanjiv.

Startups recognised under DPIIT’s ‘Startup India’ initiative will be eligible to join Maruti Suzuki’s innovation programmes.

Shortlisted startups will gain access to mentorship, insights, and infrastructure to test and validate their solutions.

They will also be connected to incubators, accelerators, and potential investors.

“Our partnership with Maruti Suzuki reflects DPIIT’s commitment to nurturing high-impact startup engagement in the mobility and manufacturing space. We look forward to enabling startups with the support they need to succeed at scale, both in India and globally,” said Alam Ansari, Deputy Director, Startup India, DPIIT.

Maruti Suzuki, which has been actively engaging with the startup ecosystem over the past six years, has so far screened over 5,220 startups, collaborated with around 150, and partnered with 28 that have added value to its operations.
