MC Chauhan takes over as GM SER

Kolkata, Nov 9 (IBNS): M C Chauhan, General Manager, Metro Railway, Kolkata has taken over the additional charge of General Manager, South Eastern Railway (SER), Kolkata on Wednesday in place of A K Goel who is appointed as Director General (Railway Stores), Railway Board, New Delhi.

Chauhan belongs to the 1979 batch of the Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE). Before posting as GM, Metro & South Eastern Railways, he was working as Advisor, Railway Electrification in Railway Board.

As an ardent Electrical Engineer,Chauhan has vast experience of working in various posts of Indian Railways.

He worked as Divisional Railway Manager, Central Railway from 2009 to 2011 during which 167 new suburban services were introduced and fifth and sixth lines were commissioned between Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) and Thane Stations. 

During his distinguished career, he also worked as Executive Director, Railway Electrification and Director, Power Supply, Railway Board.

Chauhan was also instrumental in introduction of metalized carbon strips and sanction of DC to AC conversion work in Mumbai area.

Chauhan had also foreign trainings in Computerized Freight Operations Information System with CANAC International Consultant in Canada, Rolling Stock Modernisation in Japan and three-phase EMU in Germany.

He has keen interest in other socio-cultural activities too.
