Petrol, diesel prices cut by 1 paisa

New Delhi, May 30 (IBNS) :  Petrol and diesel prices were lowered marginally by 1 paisa per litre on Wednesday following ease in the global crude prices, reports said.

The mild reduction came after sixteen days of consecutive hikes, though the current. prices are still near all-time highs in some cities.

The relief, however, marks a faux pas as the Indian Oil had earlier on Wednesday said on its website that petrol and diesel prices have been cut by 60 paise and 56 paise per litre respectively.

Making the euphoria short lived, within hours, the company revised the prices on its website stating that it was a "clerical error" that the price prevalent on May 25 was communicated as today's price.
