New Delhi/UNI: Fuel prices rallied to their highest ever level as oil marketing companies increased prices of petrol and diesel Friday.

The prices were kept unchanged on Monday and Tuesday making the latest hike the third in this week.

In the national capital, the petrol and diesel prices were increased by 35 paise each making petrol available at Rs 106.89 per litre and diesel at Rs 95.62 per litre.

In Kolkata, petrol prices were increased by 33 paise making a litre of petrol available at Rs 107.44, while diesel prices were increased by 35 paise making it retail at Rs 98.73 per litre.

In Mumbai, a litre of petrol costs Rs 112.78 and diesel Rs 103.63, while petrol costs Rs 104.01 and diesel Rs 100.01 in Chennai.

Currently, the most expensive petrol and diesel per litre are available at Rs 119.05 and at Rs 109.88 respectively in Ganganagar, Rajasthan.

The latest hike in fuel price makes Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) cheaper than petrol as petrol now costs 35.3 percent more than ATF.

Recently, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi took digs at the Modi government and depicted the hike as an example of BJP's inability to fulfil promises.
