Patna/UNI: Reliance Jio, leading digital service provider of Bihar-Jharkhand, has successfully completed deployment of the additional 15 MHz spectrum acquired in the recent spectrum auction.

Official sources of Jio digital service provider said on Tuesday that the spectrum had been deployed at 20000+ sites across the two states and will further enhance subscriber experience.

Reliance Jio, in March acquired the right to use spectrum in all 22 circles across India in the spectrum auctions conducted by the Department of Telecommunications, Government of India. The company had acquired additional spectrums in 800MHz, 1800MHz, and 2300MHz bands.

In Bihar-Jharkhand, Jio had acquired 10 MHz spectrum in 2300 MHz band and 5 MHz in 1800MHz band. Spectrum augmentation of this magnitude will certainly help enhance the network experience manifold for the entire Jio subscriber base in Bihar-Jharkhand. It is worth mentioning here that Jio has over 32.6 million mobile subscribers in both the states with over 37.7 percent subscriber market share in Bihar-Jharkhand, as per the latest mobile subscriber data released by TRAI.

Considering the ongoing pandemic situation and curtailed movements, this is a timely addition, which will help students to attend classes and professionals working from home, to seamlessly carry out their activities while being safe at home. The enhanced connectivity, speed and customer experience will certainly be of great help to health and frontline workers who are relentlessly trying to contain this pandemic.

With an increasing demand for more 4G towers, Jio Bihar-Jharkhand has been further expanding its 4G network in 2021, connecting several hitherto unconnected regions. Currently, Jio has over 20,000 true 4G network sites in both the states, the largest 4G footprint by any digital service provider.

Reliance Jio acquired a total of 488.35MHz spectrum in 800MHz, 1800MHz and 2300MHz bands for 22 circles in the recent spectrum auction at a cost of Rs.57,123 crores for a period of 20 years. With this, Jio has increased its footprint significantly by 55 percent to a total of 1717 MHz in the country. Jio currently has over 427 million subscribers and with the enhanced spectrum footprint, RJIL will have a further robust network capacity to service its new as well as existing users. This enhancement will also help in adding the next 300 million users that will move to digital services and towards a transition to 5G services too.
