Sensex down 86.61 pts

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex on Monday dropped 86.61 pts to settle at 54,395.23 as selling was seen in Technology, Telecom and IT stocks.

The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) eased 4.60 pts at 16,216.00.

The sensex opened lower at 54,248.60, fell 233 pts.

During the day, it was further lost by 391 pts at 54,090, days low, before closing at 54,395.23, sliding by 86.61 pts from its previous close.

The sensex registered days high and low at 54,527.90 and 54,090.53 pts respectively.

The Nifty recorded days high and low at 16,248.55 and 16,115.50 respectively.

The sectoral indices like Technology, Telecom and IT stocks dragged the market.

The Mid Cap rose by 0.63 pc and Small Cap by 1.07 pc.

In 30 scrips, 15 advanced while 14 declined.

The Asian Market remained weak today, as Australia fell by 1.23 pc, China by 1.21 pc and Hong Kong by 2.77 pc.
