WPI maintains the declining trend; falls to -3.48% in May 2023

New Delhi: The provisional Wholesale Price Index (WPI) for May 2023 shows an annual inflation rate of (-) 3.48% compared to (-) 0.92% in April 2023, data released by the Commerce and Industry Ministry showed on Wednesday.

In May 2022, WPI inflation was at 16.63 percent.

The decrease in inflation is mainly due to lower prices of mineral oils, basic metals, food products, textiles, non-food articles, crude petroleum & natural gas, and chemical & chemical products.

The month-over-month change in WPI for the month of May 2023 stood at (-) 0.86 % as compared to April 2023.
