6.1 earthquake hits Afghanistan-Tajikistan Border Region, tremors felt in New Delhi

Kabul/ New Delhi, May 9 (IBNS): An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter Scale hit  Afghanistan-Tajikistan Border Region on Wednesday as tremors were also felt in parts of India, including New Delhi.

As per India Meteorological Department, the quake hit the region at around  16:11 pm Indian Standard Time.

The epicentre of the quake was located at latitude 36.9 degrees south and longitude 71.3 degrees east.

It hit at a depth of 96 kms.

Tremors were also felt in New Delhi in India, parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab, reports said.

No casualty has been reported so far.
