As many as 112 Wuhan evacuees including 36 foreigners taken to ITBP quarantine facility

New Delhi/UNI: As many as 112 evacuees including 36 foreigners, who arrived from the Coronavirus epicenter Wuhan in China, were taken to makeshift quarantine facility of Indo Tibetan Border Police’s (ITBP) at Chhawla here on Thursday.

This is third batch of evacuees from Wuhan which has been housed at this center after successfully managing the first two batch of 406 people which were released after testing negative .

“The group includes 76 Indians and 36 foreign nationals including eight families and five children. The group of foreign nationals includes 23 from Bangladesh, six from China, two each from Myanmar and Maldives, and one each from Madagascar, South Africa and the USA," the ITBP spokesperson Vivek Pandey told UNI.

After first (Thermal) screening at the isolation bay at the Airport, these fresh evacuees were taken to the Chhawla camp in the ITBP Buses.

“All people are provided all basic facilities required at the Centre as done with the previous lot of evacuees. Daily monitoring and checkups will also be undertaken by the ITBP medicos in the days to come," Pandey further said.

No one has been tested with any Coronavirus symptoms till now. The expected quarantine period is 14 days, the spokesperson added .

This Quarantine Camp in Chhawla in New Delhi was prepared by ITBP in just 48 hours prior to arrival of the first batch from Wuhan on Feb 1 with the round the clock medical supervision and all basic amenities such as food, lodging, indoor games and intenet Wi-Fi.

The quarantine facility has been managed by a team of 30 persons including paramedics and other administrative staffs.
