Assam detects another COVID-19 case linked to Nizamuddin; tally at 30

Guwahati/UNI: After a gap of three days, a new case of COVID- 19, linked to Nizamuddin area of Delhi, was detected in Assam on Monday, taking the state’s tally to 30.

State Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that a person from Dhubri district has tested positive for the virus, making him the third from Dhubri to be infected with the virus.

The 35-year-old businessman, under home quarantine, was shifted to the isolation ward of Dhubri Civil Hospital on April 7 after he showed symptoms.

His samples were taken on April 10 and the results came on Sunday showing positive for COVID 19. He is being brought to MMCH at Guwahati to for treatment.

Dr Sarma said the person had visited New Delhi last month, including a trip to Nizamuddin area, though he was not related to the Tablighi Jamaat.

Except one, rest 29 cases of the state are linked to Nizamuddin Markaz in Delhi. One COVID-19 positive patient has died in the state so far.
