Assam records biggest single-day spike with 4,593 Covid-19 cases, tally surges to 68,999

Guwahati/IBNS: Assam has recorded the biggest single-day spike in the number of Covid-19 positive cases as the state has registered 4593 positive cases for the deadly virus in the last 24 hours.

Out of the new cases, 632 cases have been detected in Kamrup (M) district, 460 cases in Kamrup (R) district, 335 cases in Nagaon district, 265 cases in Dibrugarh district.

With the new cases, the state tally has now surged to 68,999.

Assam Health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the state has tested 1,43,109 samples for the novel Coronavirus in the last 24 hours and the positivity rate is 3.20 percent.

The state has so far tested over 15 samples for Covid-19 in 17 laboratories in the state.

On the other hand, 161 people have died due to Covid-19 infections in the state so far.

Out of the total cases detected in the state so far, 47,209 patients have been discharged from hospitals and the state has now 21,626 active COVID-19 positive cases.
