Assam reports 2036 new COVID-19 cases

Guwahati/IBNS:  Assam registered 2036 fresh positive cases for COVID-19 in last 24 hours and with the new cases that state tally has surged to 98,807.

Out of the fresh cases, 481 cases were detected in Guwahati and Kamrup (Metro) district while 146 cases detected in Jorhat district, 129 cases in Dibrugarh district, 110 cases in Hailakandi district.

According to the state health department, 35,395 samples were tested for the novel Coronavirus at 17 laboratories and out of these 2036 tested positive.

The positivity rate is 5.75 percent.

Assam Health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted: “2036 #COVID cases detected today out of 35395 tests done in last 24 hours. Positivity Rate- 5.75%. Kamrup M- 481, Jorhat 146, Dibrugarh- 129, Hailakandi- 110.”

On the other hand, four more persons died due to the deadly virus in the state in last 24 hours.

Himanta Biswa Sarma said that, four more persons aged between 46 and 65 years died due to the deadly virus in the state in last 24 hours.

On the other hand, 79,307 patients have discharged from different hospitals of the state so far and the state has now 19,219 active positive cases for the new virus.
