Guwahati, Sep 3 (UNI) Preliminary notifications for three more additions to Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve of Assam have been issued, which will increase the total area to 915.53 sq km.

“The government has approved the 7th, 8th and 9th Additions to Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve and published the preliminary notifications,” an official source informed here today.

The additions include encroachment evicted areas and suitable wildlife habitat at riverine islands (chaporis) which were also vulnerable to encroachment.

It is a move to consolidate the wildlife areas anticipating better wildlife conservation and reduction in human-wildlife negative interactions in future.

The 7th addition is of 176 hectares in Deosur, Palkhowa, and Deosur Hill PRF in Nagaon district, 8th addition is of 307 hectares in Banderdubi, also in Nagaon district and the 9th addition is of 2570 hectares in Mokua chapori in Sonitpur district.
