Assam: Wearing PPE kits doctors conduct caesarean section of a COVID-19 positive woman

Guwahati/IBNS: A team of doctors and other health workers of Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital (FAAMCH) in Assam’s Barpeta district have successfully conducted first caesarean section of a COVID-19 positive pregnant lady in the state by wearing personal protection equipment (PPE) kits.

The doctors and health workers team of the government run hospital had conducted the caesarean section of the COVID-19 positive lady on Monday.

According to the report, the lady gave birth to a baby girl and the baby was tested negative for COVID-19 and the doctors of the government run hospital are now monitoring the baby girl at baby care unit of the hospital.

Expressing his gratitude to the doctors and health workers team, Assam Health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “My sincere gratitude to the members of the team.”

He tweeted, “Wearing PPE kits, our team in Barpeta Medical College has conducted the first Caesarean section of a COVID positive pregnant lady. My sincere gratitude to the members of the team.”
