Mirzapur/UNI: As part of precautions being undertaken to mitigate the spread of the novel Coronavirus, seven tourists from Italy have been stopped in their hotel rooms situated in the Sadar tehsil area of this district of Uttar Pradesh.

As per information, these tourists will be kept under observation till March 9. The 7-member Italy group had reached Mirzapur on March 5.

According to CMO OP Tiwari, no symptoms of the virus were found in the preliminary check-ups of these people but as a precautionary measure, the health department team is keeping an eye on them constantly.

They will undergo medical check-ups regularly and these tourists will spend four days in the closed room.

According to information, the district administration was alerted as soon as they received information about 7 tourists from Italy staying at a hotel in Mirzapur.

It was learnt that two male and five women tourists had reached the hotel on Thursday afternoon. This also created tension amongst the hotel employees and although they first refused to offer rooms, the bookings had been done 9 months in advance after which they were provided rooms and the health department was informed.

It was later known that they had reached New Delhi airport on February 25 and they reached Mirzapur after having traveled Khajuraho, Chitrakoot and Prayagraj.

Upon receiving information about the group reaching the hotel, health department team reached there under the leadership of the CMO where every tourist underwent a check-up.

As per rule, they will be kept under observation for 14 days and hence, they will be kept in isolation at the hotel room till the evening of March 9.
