Covid-19: Bengal conducts over 30,000 tests in single day, reports biggest one-day jump of 2,997 cases

Kolkata/IBNS: Witnessing the biggest single-day spike of 2,997 infections, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in West Bengal on Thursday touched 1,07,323, including 26,447 active ones, 2259 deaths and 78,617 discharges, reports said.

According to a bulletin issued by Bengal Health and Family Welfare (WBHFW) department, in the past 24 hours, 56 more coronavirus related fatalities were reported while 2,497 Covid-19 patients were discharged from different health facilities across the state, taking the recovery rate to 73.25 per cent from 72.96 per cent.

Officials said that West Bengal had tested 12,16,955 samples till date with a record number of 30,032 tests conducted in 62 testing facilities in the state in the last 24 hours.

Presently, 2,715 persons are kept in government quarantine centres and 32,987 people are under home surveillance in the state while 1,832 persons are in 200 government-run safe homes.
