COVID-19: Five injured over clashes of suspected infection in Maharashtra

Aurangabad,Maharashtra/UNI: Five people were injuired at Sonwadi Budruk village in Paithan Taluka of district after clashes erupted between villagers and a youth over the issue of suspected infection of COVID-19 to his family as he returned recently from Pune, sources said on Saturday.

The injured were identified as Samir Anwad Sayed, Anwar, Sabnoor Afroz Shaikh and two others.

According to them, the incident took place on Friday evening when Samir went to a kirana shop some of the villagers objected and asked him to go home claiming that his family was coronavirus infected as he was working in company at Pune and recently came to the village.

The heated exchanges between villagers and Samir turned in to clashes as both sides used sticks and iron rods against each other.

A case was registered and further investigation was underway,sources added.
