Covid-19: Twenty people kept in isolation wards in Kerala's Pathanamthitta, Kollam

Pathanamthitta/UNI: After six tested positive for coronavirus infection, as many as 20 persons were admitted in isolation wards in Pathanamthitta and Kollam government hospitals on Monday.

The Health Department opened state call centres which operates for 24 hours to handle emergency situations here.

Kerala Health Minister K K Shailaja informed that five persons from a family, including three returnees from Italy tested positive for coronavirus infection on Sunday. It is for the first time, such a high number of cases are reported in the state, she said.

At the same time, health department initiated action to trace over 2000 people who had contact with the infected.

Meanwhile, 15 persons including two women were admitted at various hospitals here. Two persons are under observation at Adoor taluk hospital and nine others at Pathanamthitta general hospital.

The health department authorities had ordered to postpone all public functions and weddings in Pathanamthitta district in the wake of Coronavirus outbreak.

The district collector P B Nooh has banned all public gatherings in the district until further notice. The collector also held discussions with religious leaders and requested them to defer public meetings.
