COVID-19: West Bengal reports 2112 new cases, tally crosses 60,000-mark

Kolkata/IBNS: With 2112 fresh infections and 39 more fatalities reported in the last 24 hours, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in West Bengal has mounted to 60830, including 19502 active ones, 1411 deaths and 39917 discharges, reports said on Monday.

According to a bulletin issued by West Bengal Health and Family Welfare (WBHFW) department, in the last 24 hours, 2166 Covid-19 patients were discharged from different health facilities across the state, taking the recovery rate to 65.62 per cent from 64.29 per cent.

Officials said that Bengal had tested 8,22,190 samples till date with 17005 tests conducted in 57 testing facilities in the state in the past 24 hours, which is the highest so far on a single day. 

Meanwhile, state authorities reported that as on Monday (July 27) evening, West Bengal had 1080 broad-based containment zones, out of which 31 were in Kolkata.   

Currently, 3528 persons are kept in government quarantine centres and 34912 people are under home surveillance in the state.
