Delhi: Air quality improves, but still 'very poor'

| @indiablooms | Nov 06, 2020, at 08:38 pm

New Delhi/UNI: The average air quality in Delhi improved on Friday from "severe" to "very poor" category, the Central Pollution Control Board data shows.

The average Air Quality Index (AQI) of Delhi, a unit to measure air pollution, was 397 at around 1100 hrs.

The minimum temperature recorded in the morning was 12.6 degrees Celsius, while the relative humidity pegged at 91 per cent.

The high humidity makes the air more dense and prevents dispersion of the particulate matter, thus keeping it more toxic.

As Diwali is coming, the Delhi government has banned firecrackers in Delhi in view of the rising pollution amid Covid-19 pandemic.
