Delhi records massive single-day spike with 4000 new Covid-19 cases

New Delhi/IBNS: The national capital registered more 4,000 cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

This is a record single-day spike in the cases since the contagion had an outbreak in Delhi.

The previous highest single-day spike was that of 3,947 cases, logged on June 23.

The overall tally in Delhi now stands at  2,01,174 including 4,618 deaths.

The spike comes amid the resuming of the long-awaited metro rail services.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday announced a doctor's prescription will no longer be needed for those seeking a Covid-19 test.

Meanwhile, India, the second-worst Covid-19-affected country in the world, on Wednesday reported close to 90,000 cases pushing the tally beyond 43 lakh.
