Five more from Delhi’s Nizamuddin prayer meet die in Telangana

Hyderabad/UNI: Five more people from Telangana, who attended a religious prayer meeting at Markaz in Delhi’s Nizamuddin area from March 13-15, died of coronavirus on Monday alone to take the toll in the state to six in the last 48 hours.

In a sudden outbreak and detection of multiple coronavirus cases, the Delhi-based headquarters of Tablighi Jamaat in Nizamabad west has burned into a hotspot, alarming health authorities.

A 74-year-old man, who became the first Covid-19 fatally in the state had also returned from the same conference on March 17 and died (Global hospital) of the deadly virus on March 28.

All the six had gone to attend a religious meet in Delhi’s Nizamuddin area, a release from CMs office said here on last night.

“Of them, two people died in Gandhi Hospital, one each in Apollo, Global Hospital, Nizamabad and in Gadwal in the state,” the release said.

Special teams under the Collectors have identified these people who came in contact with the infected and were shifted to the hospitals. They were tested and treated.

Since those participated in Markaz prayers were inflicted with Corona, all those participated in the prayers should inform the officials concerned.

The government would conduct tests and offer treatment to them free of cost, the release said and adding that all those, who went for the Markaz prayers in Delhi should inform the authorities.

Anyone who has information about them should alert the government, the Medical and Health Department of Telangana state stated in a statement.

On Monday alone, six new positive cases in Telangana state, taking the overall count to 76 so far, however in which 13 people had released from Gandhi hospital after recovering from the virus during the day.
