Heatwave to continue in Vidarbha

Nagpur, Apr 29 (UNI) Almost all parts of Maharashtra's Vidarbha region is reeling under an intense heatwave, with Chandrapur and Akola recording the highest temperature on Sunday at 47.2 degrees Celsius, the MeT department said.

Dry and hot weather conditions are prevailing in Nagpur for the last few days. The day temperature has been rising continuously and creating records.


According to the weather department, Chandrapur and Akola recorded the region's highest temperature at 47.2 degrees on Sunday, followed by Bramhapuri at 46.3 degrees, Amravati at 45.8 degrees and Amravati at 45.8 degrees.


On Sunday, Wardha was at 45.7 degrees Celsius, Yavatmal 45.5, Nagpur 44.9, Buldhana 44 , Gondia 43.6 and Gadchiroli 43 degree Celsius, the MeT department said.


A heatwave is likely to occur over parts of Akola, Chandrapur, Amravati, Nagpur, Wardha, and Yavatmal over the next three days, the MeT department said, adding that the maximum and the minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 45 degrees and 27 degrees Celsius respectively.
