Himachal calamity : 16 trekkers, including 10 foreigners go missing
Shimla, Sept 29 (IBNS) : Sixteen trekkers, including ten foreigners, were stated to be missing after they lost contact due to bad weather conditions at Chamba in Himachal Pradesh on Saturday, media reports said.
According to reports, policemen along with local porters and mountaineering experts have launched a search operation to locate the missing trekkers.
The incident comes a few days after a group of 45 students of IIT-Roorkee, five Indian- born US nationals and two German trekkers, were rescued from the icy heights of Himachal Pradesh.

They were stranded in Lahaul Valley as landslides triggered by heavy snow damaged the road links to Manali.
The state have been witnessing heavy rain and snowfall since mid-September. Eight people have so far been killed and hundreds, including school students, remained stranded across the state. The rains have triggered landslides, which again snapped over 200 road links.
. The IAF and BRO personnel have been carrying out rescue operations and air-dropping food packets in remote areas.
