Himachal Pradesh: 18 killed in rain-related incidents
Shimla, Aug 18 (IBNS): Rain-related incidents have left 18 people killed in Himachal Pradesh, media reports said on Sunday.
The incidents have left nine others hurt.
Eight people died in Shimla, two each in Kullu, Sirmaur, Solan and Chamba and one each in Una and Lahaul-Spiti districts, officials told The Tribune newspaper.
Landslides hit a spot near the RTO office here, leaving three persons dead, reported the newspaper.
One person was left hurt in the incident.
In the last 36 hours, heavy rains and strong winds have disrupted normal life several parts of Himachal Pradesh.
Widespread damage to houses and buildings have been reported.
As rains triggered landslides and snapped road links, tourists have been reportedly stranded in different parts of the state.
Himachal Pradesh is a major tourist destination of India.
Shimla Deputy Commissioner Amit Kashyap has announced schools would remain closed on Tuesday, reported The Tribune.
