New Delhi/IBNS: In a dip in the daily positive cases, India reported 10,423 new COVID-19 infections in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry stated Tuesday.

The latest daily figure is the lowest in 259 days.

In the same span of time, 443 deaths apparently due to the virus were reported.

However, out of 443 deaths, 368 were reported alone from Kerala, the south Indian state.

The recovery rate is currently at 98.21%, the highest since Mar 2020, with 15,021 people recovering from the disease.

In a fight against pandemic, 106.85 anti-COVID-19 vaccine doses have so far been administered in the country.

Though the positivity rate has declined, health experts have warned people of a surge if COVID-19 protocols are not followed in the festive season.

In West Bengal, passengers were seen flouting physical distancing norms in local trains, which have been allowed to operate with 50 percent occupancy from this week in the state, raising fear in the minds of people.
