New Delhi/IBNS: India reported 34,973 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours while the toll increased by 260 in the same span of time, the Health Ministry said Friday.

The South Asian country has reported 37,681 recoveries in a single day, taking the recovery rate to 97.49%.

Now the active cases constitute 1.18% of the total cases.

Under India's national vaccination drive, which is the largest in the world, 72.37% anti-COVID-19 doses have so far been administered in the country.

In a positive picture, Johnson & Johnson's single shot vaccine is likely to be available in the Indian market by October, media reports said.

India is currently offering three different vaccines, Serum Institute of India (SII)'s Covishield, Bharat Biotech's Covaxin and Sputnik V from Russia, to its population of 1.3 billion people.
