India reports 35,662 COVID-19 cases, 281 deaths in 24 hours

New Delhi/UNI/IBNS: India recorded 35,662 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said in its latest update on Saturday.

The death toll from the contagious ailment has reached 4,44,529 as 281 more fatalities were recorded during the past 24 hours.

More than 32.63 million people have recovered from the disease in India since the start of the outbreak.

Creating a world record, 2.50 crore anti-COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered in India on Friday, the day when Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned 71.

The government had set a target of 2.5 crore and crossed the mark by 10,390.

Till now, China had administered the highest number of shots -2.47 crore - in a single day in June.
