India reports 5 new UK Coronavirus strain, tally increases to 25

New Delhi/UNI/IBNS: With five more people detected with the new Coronavirus strain, which was first found in Britain, the total number of such cases in India rose to 25, the Union Health Ministry update said on Thursday.

The consortium of 10 government labs i.e. INSACOG has so far found a total of 25 cases of mutant UK virus after genome sequencing.

Four new cases were found by NIV, Pune and one new case was sequenced in IGIB, Delhi.

All 25 persons are in physical isolation in health facilities.

The central government on Wednesday extended the suspension of India-UK flight services till Jan 7, 2021 in the wake of the new Coronavirus strain.

After Jan 7, the flight services will resume but with strict regulations.
