India reports over 60,000 Covid-19 cases in 24 hours, tally crosses 2.32 million

New Delhi/IBNS: With over 60,000 fresh infections reported in the last 24 hours, India's Covid-19 tally crossed 2.32 million on Wednesday.

As per the data of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, 60,963 Covid cases including 834 deaths were reported in the vast South Asian country of 1.3 billion people in 24 hours between Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.

India's recovery rate has further improved to 70.37% as 16,39,599 people, including 56,110 in the last 24 hours, have so far been recovered from the deadly disease.

As per the Health Ministry,  6,43,948 Covid patients are still present in different medical facilities across the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday held a virtual meeting with Chief Ministers of 10 states where the Covid-19 cases are on the rise in the last few weeks.

In his remarks, Modi said, India will defeat Novel Coronavirus if the 10 worst Covid-19-affected states tackle the contagion successfully.

"A view has emerged that if we defeat coronavirus in 10 states, the nation will also win," Modi said in the virtual meeting.

The 10 states include Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and West Bengal.
