Jammu and Kashmir: Red Cross Society organises blood donation camp at DH Handwara

Srinagar:  Red Cross Society Kupwara on Tuesday organised a blood donation camp in collaboration with District Hospital Handwara in which forty units of blood were donated by local volunteers of Handwara and adjoining areas.

According to Kashmir News Service, the donation camp was inaugurated by General Secretary Kifayat Hussain Rizvi and he flanked by regional secretary Mohammad YousufZargar and officials of District Hospital Handwara.

During the programme,a number of volunteers donated their blood and expressed happiness for becoming a part of this cause.

Most of the volunteers said that donating blood can the save the lives of many people. The organisers also appealed the local youth to come forward and donate blood.

Speaking on the occasion, the General Secretary of RCS said that earlier people were afraid of donating blood but now they are very cooperative and the society is regularly organising blood donation camps.

After donating blood, the youth were also given proper refreshments. Instructor Red Cross Society Kupwara, Syed Imtiyaz donated blood for the 54th time and he was widely hailed by the general public for his endeavours.

Meanwhile, Samiullah Muslim, In-charge Blood Bank District Hospital Handwara said that they received 40 units of blood during the blood donation camp (KNS) IUST to offer B. Arch course Awantipora, Nov 03:

Taking another step towards academic expansion by introduction of various demand driven and professionally oriented programmes, Islamic University of Science and Technology is (IUST) all set to offer a five-year full time bachelors course in architecture.

The Bachelors in Architecture (B. Arch) programme will be started at the university from the academic session 2020-21, a press statement from the university said.

The Department of Architecture has already been instituted at IUST which envisions to achieve highest standards in architectural education, the statement further said.

The course will aim to enhance, consolidate & revitalize the process of architectural design, thus evolving a strong base that is progressive, dynamic and more relevant to the evolving socioeconomic and geographical context.

The Executive Committee of Council of Architecture (COA) had earlier accorded approval for introduction of B. Arch course at IUST, with an intake capacity of 40 students from the academic session 2020-21.

Meanwhile IUST has initiated the admission process for admitting the students to B. Arch programme for which admission notification will be issued soon, the statement said.
