Karnataka: Periyapatna, Nelamangala get good pre-monsoon showers

Bengaluru, May 18 (UNI) Pre-monsoon showers were reported in South Interior Karnataka as summer heat came down in the region while North Interior areas remained largely dry, according to a weather office report.

Summary of observations recorded at 0830 hrs by IMD today said rainfall occurred at few places over South Interior and Coastal Karnataka. Dry weather prevailed over remaining parts of of North Karnataka.

Chief amounts of rainfall (in cm): Periyapatna , Nelamangala 4 cm each, Chintamani, Channapatna 3 each; Hesaraghatta, Bengalurul HAL AP, Basaralu, Bengaluru City 2 each, Ramanagara, Alur, Dudda, H D Kote, Bengaluru KIAL AP, Huliyurdurga and Kollegal 1 cm each during the last 24 hours.
Kalaburgi recorded the highest maximum temperature of 44.1 degree celsius in the state.

Forecast for next 24 hours said rain/thundershowers likely to occur at a few places over South Interior Karnataka. Dry Weather very likely to prevail over Coastal and North Interior Karnataka.
