Kerala reports 13,658 new COVID cases, 11,808 recoveries

Thiruvananthapuram/UNI: Covid-19 was newly detected in 13,658 persons in Kerala on Wednesday while 11,808 patients have recovered from the disease, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said.

In a press release here this evening, the CM said: "1,40,727 samples were tested during the last 24 hours and the Test Positivity Rate (TPR) is 9.71 %. A total of 2,30,73,669 samples have been sent for testing till this day."

Meanwhile, 142 recent deaths were confirmed on Wednesday due to Covid taking the death toll in the state to 13,235.

Also, 24 local self government areas were identified with TPR above 24 percent in the State.

In the last 24 hours, Covid was not detected in any person who recently came to Kerala from the UK taking the total to 128, and their samples have been sent to NIV, Pune for further testing.

So far, 11 people who came from the UK were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus.
