Kolkata Police officer dies due to coronavirus

Kolkata/UNI: Yet another Kolkata Police officer, Assistant Sub Inspector Siddhanta Shekhar De, who was posted in the fifth Battalion, Armed Police, died of covid-19 at a private hospital in the city today.

"Lost our colleague ASI Siddhanta Shekhar De to COVID19. We stand by his family members in this time of grief CoronaMartyr Salute," Kolkata Police Commissioner Anuj Sharma said on his twitter account.

The ASI, who was posted at BodyGuards Police Line, had been admitted to a hospital on EM Bypass about 10 days back, died of pandemic this afternoon.

He was 57 and was on the forefront in the fight of covid.

With the latest casualty in the police, about a dozen from the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police to Constable have died of pandemic.
