Maharashtra: Covid-19 cases in Thane close to 70,000

Thane/UNI: With addition of 1,585 new corona positive cases here in a single day on Monday, the district's tally swelled to 69,190, a senior officer from the district collectorate stated.

As usual Kalyan-Dombivili today reported the highest number of positive cases of 427, followed by Navi Mumbai-286 and Thane city-255.

With this, the total number of positive cases reported across the district were as such Kalyan-Dombivili-16,334, Thane city-16,028 and Navi Mumbai-11,712.

The official also said that 35 more deaths due to the pandemic were reported today across the district, pushing the toll to 1,927.

Ambernath and Badlapur today reported no deaths, the official from the district stated.

A 61-year-old general practitioner, infected with Covid, died today at a hospital, a spokesman for Indian Medical Association said.

Also, a 79-year-old director and former chairman of a co-operative bank died of corona, the reports in the city stated.

While, more than 10,000 patients have been discharged till date, the reports said.

Meanwhile, in adjacent Palghar district, total 12,073 positive cases and 218 deaths have been reported so far, the official added.
