Palghar/UNI: A 22-year-old man, who tied nuptial knot three days ago, tested COVID-19 positive on Monday in Jawhar taluka of this district.

Employed as a lab assistant, the man got himself tested for the pandemic prior to his marriage held on June 12 while the medical report was received Monday.

In an immediate preventive measure, he along with his spouse and 64 other marriage attendees have been sent into quarantine, apprised tehsildar Santosh Shinde.

It is probable that the lab assistant may have contracted the contagion from a bus driver, who came for testing and was found to be Corona positive.

Till now, Palghar has tallied 1,911 cases, with the Vasai Virar Municipal limits accounting for the highest 1,509 infected individuals followed by the talukas of Palghar (147), Vasai Rural (72), Wada (61), Dahanu (55), Vikramgadh (47), Jawhar (11), Mokhada (7) and Talasari (2).

Out of the total 61 fatalities, Vasai Virar has also recorded the highest 53 death toll followed by Vasai Rural (5) and Palghar (3).
