Number of COVID-19 tests in West Bengal crosses two-million mark, tally reaches 1,71,681

Kolkata/IBNS: After achieving a major milestone by conducting over two-million tests for detection of COVID-19, West Bengal on Thursday reported that its contagion tally had mounted to 1,71,681, including 24,039 active cases, 3394 deaths and 1,44,248 discharges.

Officials in the state health department said that the state has tested 20,20,784 samples till date with 45,291 tests conducted in 71 testing facilities in the last 24 hours.

According to a bulletin issued by Bengal Health and Family Welfare (WBHFW) department, in the past 24 hours, 2,984 fresh infections and 55 coronavirus related deaths were reported while 3335 Covid-19 patients were discharged from different health facilities across the state, taking the recovery rate to 84.02 per cent from 83.53 per cent.

Presently, 2457 persons are kept in government quarantine centres and 58,039 people are under home surveillance in the state while 1720 persons are in 200 government-run safe homes.
