Odisha reports fourth COVID-19 positive case

Bhubaneswar/UNI: One more person in Odisha tested COVID- 19 positive taking the total number of Coronavirus positive cases to four in the state.

Official sources said the fourth patient was from Bhadrak whose blood sample was tested positive last night and the patient has been shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

He has a travel history and had returned from Dubai recently.His sample was sent to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for examination where he tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

With the detection of fourth positive case in the state, the State Health Department have said people with travel history must follow home quarantine for two weeks and then self monitor their health condition for another two weeks.

State Health Secretary Nikunja Dhal has asked Bhadrak Collector to trace all the contacts ,isolate them and get them tested as early as possible and monitor the situation.

Out of the four positive cases, while three reported were from Bhubaneswar, the fourth one was a 29- year old youth from Bhadrak district in North Odisha.

Odisha government Chief Spokesman on Coronavirus, Subroto Bagchi said the first COVID-19 confirmed case was reported on March 16 when a 33-year-old youth who returned from Italy on March 12 tested positive.

On March 19,Odisha reported second case after a 19-year old student, son of a doctor , with a travel history of United kingdom, tested positive.

The third positive case was detected on March 26 after a 60-year old who visited Delhi and Haryana, tested positive of Coronavirus.

While two of the four COVID-19 positive patients are undergoing treatment in the Capital Hospital, one patient is under treatment in the AIIMS, Bhubaneswar, and the fourth patient is in the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

As many as 473 samples were tested till Monday and three of them reported positive. On Tuesday another 137 samples were tested and one of them was found Covid-19 positive taking the total number to four in the state.
