Ramaiah Medical College Hospital keeps 200 beds for Coronavirus cases
Bengaluru, Apr 3 (UNI) In a major initiative to combat COVID-19 spread, Super Speciality Ramaiah Medical College Hospital here has earmarked 200 beds ready to face any surge.
A team from Gokula Education Foundation (GEF), running the Ramaiah Medical College Hospital, led by Dr Jayaram, on Friday met Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and assured him that in case of surge in COVID-19 cases the Ramaiah hospitals have kept 200 beds ready to treat COVID-19 patients as a measure to control the spread of virus, according to a press release here.
Dr Jayaram lauding the State government's steps to prevent spread of the killer disease, said ''It is also commendable that major Government institutions like Victoria and Bowring Hospitals in Bangalore are already equipped to treat a large number of COVID 19 cases as and when required. As a leading Foundation providing medical education and healthcare facilities in the State, we would like to join hands with the Government in its efforts to combat the threat of Covid-19 epidemic faced by the people of the State''.
Ramaiah Medical College Hospital and the Ramaiah Memorial Hospital have been continuously in touch with the Health Administration of the Government to make the required preparations for providing effective treatment to Covid-19 cases.
Mr Sreenivasa Murthy , Chief Executive of the group, said'' We would like to assure the State Government of our unstinted cooperation in safeguarding the health and well being of the people of our State in this hour of crisis faced by the Country''.
Dr Naresh Shetty, President of the Ramaiah Memorial Hospital said ''this initiative was supported by many Private hospitals association such as AHPI, PHANA and FHA-K with manpower, material and funding. We do understand both the Victoria and Bowring hospitals are the first nodal hospitals and we are ready to support the Govt. once the surge occurs. We also need the Govt. help for Life saving items like PPE, N 95 masks, Tab. HCQS and Rapid testing kits.''
The Hospital was already running a ‘Fever Clinic’ to screen all patients for suspected COVID-19 symptoms.
