TERI, FNI and INTASAVE-CARIBSAVE sign MOU to further global partnerships for Post-2015 Climate and Development Agenda

New Delhi, Apr 16 (IBNS): Recognizing the importance of knowledge co-operation to address issues of public importance pertaining to climate change and sustainable development, The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), Fridtjof Nansen Institute (FNI), and INTASAVE-CARIBSAVE Group signed an MOU on Thursday.
The three institutes will work together to promote research and development, including policy analysis in the areas of green growth, climate change, sustainable energy, natural resource management, capacity building, knowledge exchange and knowledge co-production.
 
Morten Høglund , State Secretary (Deputy Minister), Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, “This kind of research cooperation is win-win situation definitely. TERI is an institution we rely on for so many areas already mentioned. It is a privilege to be associated. “
 
Arne Walther, Associate Fellow at FNI said “The FNI can now step up focus on developments, especially climate and resource challenges and policies, also in India that are important not only in their domestic Indian context, but increasingly so from a global perspective. And if I may add, on behalf of the third party to our MOU, the INTASAVE-CARIBSAVE Groups Asia-Pacific Ocean located in Beijing is very well placed to engage in our collaborative projects. As will India, so too will China play an increasingly important role in global climate efforts. The MOU signed, now let us see what we can do together! To initiate our cooperation, we will seek to carry out a study on low carbon development and climate change policies in India and China with a view to increasing international understanding of both their achievements and the challenges these major nations face.“
 
Speaking at the occasion, Dr Murray C. Simpson, Chief Executive Officer; The INTASAVE-CARIBSAVE Group said “The INTASAVE-CARIBSAVE Group are delighted to formalize their collaboration with The Fridtjof Nansen Institute (FNI) and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI). This Robust and strong partnership will result in increased resilience and reduce vulnerability for thousands of people, communities, economies and environments for hundreds of Countries across the world.”
 
Nine areas of mutual interest identified by TERI, FNI and INTASAVE-CARIBSAVE Group are: Co-benefits of Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation, Green Growth and Resource Efficiency, Environment and Development, Low Carbon Strategies , Institutions and Governance, International Cooperation, South-South Knowledge Exchange, Capacity Building and National, Regional and Global Policy Advocacy.
 
The partnership assumes significance because effective implementation of the emerging Post-2015 Development Agenda and Post-2015 Climate Agenda will require innovation, new partnerships, knowledge-sharing and implementation.
