Varanasi/UNI: Anguished over the suspicious death of a COVID-19 afflicted patient at the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) hospital here, the family of the patient, alleging hospital's negligence, created an uproar and sought legal action against the guilty, official sources said on Tuesday.

According to sources, Ajay (25), who was admitted to BHU's Super Specialty Hospital, went missing on Sunday while his body was recovered from the hospital premises on Monday evening.

The hospital administration then informed the deceased's attendant about the same. Following this, a large number of family members reached the hospital and created an uproar.

In view of the tension that was prevailing, adequate police force has been deployed there.

The deceased patient's family has alleged that Ajay lost his life due to the improper arrangements of the hospital. They have demanded strict action against the doctors working in the wards and other employees.

Sources added that Ajay was admitted to the Trauma Center after getting injured in an accident on August 12. Meanwhile, he was tested for the novel coronavirus and was found to be infected and hence, he was admitted to the Super Specialty hospital.

Notably, this is the second incident in two days where a COVID patient has died under suspicious circumstances. A 21-year-old youth had allegedly leaped off the fourth storey of a BHU hospital which led to his death.
