West Bengal reports 649 fresh Covid-19 cases, death toll nears 700

Kolkata/IBNS: With 649 new infections reported in the past 24 hours, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in West Bengal has mounted to 19,819, including 6083 active ones, 699 deaths and 13,037 discharges, reports said on Thursday.

According to a bulletin issued by West Bengal Health and Family Welfare (WBHFW), 16 people succumbed to coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours while 509 more Covid-19 patients were discharged from various health facilities across the state, taking the recovery rate to 65.78 per cent.

In the state capital Kolkata, with 218 fresh cases and eight more deaths reported in the last 24 hours, the total number of Covid-19 cases has mounted to 6440, including 2006 active cases, 394 fatalities and 4040 recoveries, the bulletin read. 

West Bengal has tested 5,08,001 samples till date with 10405 tests conducted in 51 testing facilities across the state in the past 24 hours, reports said.

Currently, 6,449 patients are kept in government quarantine centres and 53,903 people are under home surveillance in the state.
