West Bengal's COVID-19 tally breaches 80,000 mark with highest-ever jump of 2752 cases, 54 deaths in last 24 hours

Kolkata/IBNS: With highest-ever single-day spike of 2,752 infections and 54 deaths, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases has mounted to 80,984, including 22,315 active ones, 1,785 fatalities and 56,884 discharges, reports said on Tuesday.

A bulletin issued by Bengal Health and Family Welfare (WBHFW) department stated that in the last 24 hours, 2,066 Covid-19 patients were discharged from different health facilities across the state, taking the recovery rate to 70.24 per cent from 70.07 per cent. 

Officials said that Bengal had tested 9,78,980 samples till date with a record number of 22,321 tests conducted in 57 testing facilities in the state in the past 24 hours.

Currently, 2,911 persons were kept in government quarantine centres and 31,320 people are under home surveillance in the state while 1653 persons are in 106 government-run safe homes.
