Anthropic launches free ‘Anthropic Academy’ to train users on Claude AI
Anthropic has launched Anthropic Academy, a new online learning platform offering free courses designed to teach users how to work with the company’s Claude AI models, media reports said.
The American AI firm said the structured programme aims to deliver practical AI skills for learners at all levels. The Academy will feature three core learning tracks — AI Fluency, Product Training, and Developer Deep-Dives.
One of the key courses focuses on Claude Code, a command-line AI assistant that leverages language models to assist with software development tasks.
What the Course Covers
The Claude Code course teaches users how the assistant:
Reads and analyses files
Executes commands
Modifies code using its built-in tool system
Participants will also learn techniques for:
- Managing context effectively
- Creating custom workflows
- Extending Claude Code with hooks
- Integrating with external services
The programme is delivered through Skilljar, a learning management system that hosts Anthropic’s educational content.
What Learners Will Be Able to Do
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Use Claude Code’s core tools for file manipulation, command execution, and code analysis
- Manage context using /init, Claude.md files, and @mentions
- Control conversation flow using hotkeys and system commands
- Enable Plan Mode and Thinking Mode for complex tasks
- Create custom commands to automate repetitive development workflows
- Extend Claude Code using MCP servers for browser automation and additional capabilities
- Integrate with GitHub for automated pull request reviews and issue handling
- Write hooks to add custom behaviour into Claude Code
Prerequisites
- Basic familiarity with command-line interfaces
- Access to Claude Code and an API key
Target Audience
The course is aimed at engineers and developers seeking to accelerate their workflow using AI-powered tools.
Learners who complete the courses will receive certificates recognising their skills. The courses are free, self-paced, and designed to make AI knowledge accessible to a broad audience.
